GPCA Trading as Techano is committed in accordance with the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 and the accompanying Australian Privacy Principles under the Act, to the protection of personal information it collects, holds, uses and discloses. This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) applies to the handling of your information collected by Techano through the website, www.techano.com.au whether accessed via a computer, mobile device, or other technology (“the Website”) or through our services. In addition, you should also review our Terms of Website Use which govern your use of the Website and our Terms and Conditions of Sale of Goods which govern the purchase of products and from the Website.

2. Kinds of Personal Information We Collect

Techano may collect and/or hold personal information of yours, including, but not limited to:

essential for the operation and security of the Website. Depending on the standards followed by

address, domain name and information on your browsing activity when visiting our Website
may be identified. Techano will not use this information for purposes other than as identified in this
policy. If you are concerned about the potential of this information being revealed to Techano we
recommend that you discuss this with your internet provider. The Website also uses cookies
which enables Techano to monitor traffic patterns and to make your subsequent use of our Website
more efficient. A cookie does not identify you personally, but it does identify your computer. You
can refuse cookies in your browser, although some of our services may not function properly as a
result.

3. How We Collect and Hold Personal Information

In most circumstances, Techano collects personal information directly from you, for example:
-when you contact us via telephone, facsimile, email or letter;
-when you subscribe (electronically or otherwise) to any of our publications;
-when you create an account on the Website and when you order products or services through that account on the Website;
-when you order products or services from us over the telephone;
-when you provide us with your details for customer care purposes.
Techano will endeavour to collect personal information directly from you and not from third parties.

However, from time to time, we may also hold personal information from other sources that has TM been collected incidentally such as information about individuals who work for companies or organisations that have a business relationship with Techano. Generally, you will not be obliged to provide Techano with any personal information if requested by Techano. However, if you choose not to provide the information that Techano requests, we may not be able to provide you with our products or services. Techano may store your personal information electronically on its computer database or have hard copy documents that are kept securely within our premises. When information is no longer required to be held it is destroyed appropriately and in accordance with the law.

Generally, Techano uses and discloses your information only where reasonably necessary for one or more of the functions and activities connected to the operations of our business, which include:

In using the Website or our other services, you authorise us to collect your personal information for the Purposes. Under no circumstances will Techano sell or receive payments for licensing or disclosing your personal information. Any personal information collected from you or held by Techano may be disclosed to other persons or body corporates engaged by Techano for, or in relation to, the Purposes including, but not limited to: 
Techano’s employees and contractors; related body corporates; and business advisors. We may also provide a third party with statistics regarding shopper statistics provided these statistics do not contain any information that may personally identify an individual.

5. Choice and Opt-Out Preferences

You may subscribe to our email marketing database. If, at any time, you do not wish to receive these materials from us, you will have the ability to opt out of receiving future communications at any time by means of a link in every broadcast email sent to you by Techano or by contacting:

6. Access to and Correction of Personal Information

An individual has the right to request, subject to the exceptions set out in the Australian Privacy Principles, access to personal information held about them. An individual may request that records be corrected, a third party to be notified of a correction, or that a statement is attached explaining the record. A request for access or correction can be made to the Privacy Officer whose details appear below. A fee may be charged to cover the cost of processing and attending to a request for access. We will not charge a fee for the lodgement of a request for access, nor will we charge a fee for a correction request.

7. Disclosure to Overseas Recipients

Techano is likely to disclose the personal information that it collects and holds about you to third parties who are not in Australia (including parties who are located in New Zealand, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, France, and South Africa). Please note that the data protection and other laws of countries to which your information may be disclosed might not be as comprehensive as those in Australia. In all cases, by providing your personal information to us or using our Services, you consent to the disclosure of your personal information outside Australia and acknowledge that Techano is not required to ensure that overseas recipients handle
your personal information in compliance with Australian privacy law. However, where practicable in the circumstances, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that overseas recipients use and disclose such personal information in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy.

We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of other websites that we provide a link to, plugins or widgets from, social media or other sites operated and maintained by third parties over which Techano has no control over. We recommend that you research these other parties’ policies governing the privacy protection you will be provided.
